SEWANEE, Tenn. – Sewanee hosted Covenant (Ga.) in softball action on the Mountain Wednesday and finished one game of the would-be doubleheader on a rainy day. Covenant jumped out to a 4-1 lead after one inning and then outscored Sewanee for the rest of the five-inning contest for the eventual 11-2 win over the host Tigers.
Erin Polena (Pittsburgh, Pa., Mt. Lebanon) was 2-3 on the day and
Carly Warfield (Nashville, Tenn., Ensworth) and
Inez Anders (Jackson, Miss., Terry) scored the two Tiger runs.
Courtney Hinkle (Tallahassee, Fla., Maclay) took the loss from the mound for Sewanee and LeeAnn Moody earned the win for the Scots.
The Tigers are 0-7 and will host SCAC and in-state rival Rhodes this Weekend. Covenant is 2-8.
