Emory Men's Soccer Edges Out Sewanee Late

ATLANTA, Ga. -- Emory, which is ranked eighth in the South Atlantic Region, topped Sewanee 1-0 in regional men's soccer action. The match was locked in a scorless draw until the 56th minute, when Emory's Alex Scott scored the game-winner for the host Eagles.

Emory outshot Sewanee 21-11 and took five corner kicks compared to one for Sewanee. Freddie Delchamps (Helena, Ala., Indian Springs), Matt Hale (Ft. Worth, Texas, All Saints) and Chris Grover (Collierville, Tenn., St. George's) split time in goal for Sewanee, which logged eight total saves. Trenton Spindler was the goalie of record for Emory and earned the shutout.

Sewanee ended it's 2009 campaign at 8-10-1 and 4-5-1 in the SCAC. The overall Tiger record is the best since 2005. The 4-5-1 league record is also the best since 2004.
