Former Sewanee player Joe Orem enters his second season as an assistant coach for the Tigers in 2026.
 
The Tigers ended the 2025 campaign with an 11-7 record, falling in the SAA Tournament championship game for the third straight season. Nine players were voted All-SAA, including James Bogusky and Manoli Loupassi on the First Team, and a program-record 32 student-athletes were recognized on the SAA Academic Honor Roll. Four players were named Academic All-District® as selected by the College Sports Communicators as well.

Orem played five years at Sewanee, with two of those seasons altered by COVID-19.
 
He earned Second Team All-SAA honors as a junior, registering 34 ground balls and 12 caused turnovers, and Honorable Mention accolades as a senior, collecting 27 ground balls.
 
Orem was named to the SAA Academic Honor Roll in 2021 and 2023 and SAA Defensive Player of the Week twice in the 2022 campaign, tallying 37 ground balls and 21 caused turnovers during that season.
 
The Tigers won the SAA Tournament championship in 2022 and tied for a regular season title in 2024. He ranks second in program history in ground balls by a defenseman and was a three-time team captain.
 
Previous coaching experience includes leading the No Excuse Lacrosse, a summer travel team, from 2019-23.
 
Orem earned his bachelor’s from Sewanee in Psychology with a double minor in History and Education in 2024.
