Joe Orem begins his first season as an assistant coach at Sewanee with the men’s lacrosse program.
 
Orem played five years at Sewanee with two of those seasons altered by COVID-19.
 
He earned Second Team All-SAA honors as a junior, registering 34 ground balls and 12 caused turnovers, and Honorable Mention accolades as a senior, collecting 27 ground balls.
 
Orem was named to the SAA Academic Honor Roll in 2021 and 2023 and SAA Defensive Player of the Week twice in the 2022 campaign, tallying 37 ground balls and 21 caused turnovers during that season.
 
The Tigers won the SAA Tournament championship in 2022 and tied for a regular season title in 2024. He ranks second in program history in ground balls by a defenseman and was a three-time team captain.
 
Previous coaching experience includes leading the No Excuse Lacrosse, a summer travel team, from 2019-23.
 
Orem earned his bachelor’s in Psychology with a double minor in History and Education in 2024.
