Thomas Hearn

Thomas Hearn joins the Sewanee football staff, coaching the defensive line for the Tigers heading into the 2024 season.

Hearn served as a quality control coach working with the offensive line the last two seasons at Georgia Southern, gaining knowledge in the Air Raid offense and run game, coaching individual drills during practice, running group meetings and organizing the scout team defense. He coached three players who garnered All-Sun Belt honors and the offensive line ranked second nationally with only seven sacks allowed in 2022.

He spent four years at Bakersfield College, coaching running backs and tight ends as well as special teams for the Renegades. He gained experience in the West Coast and Pro Style offenses and served as the social media coordinator for the team, tutoring All-Conference tight ends Jayden Smith and Zach Hartsfield as well as Division I signees Hartsfield and Luke Soto.

Hearn spent two seasons as a volunteer assistant at Washington State after sustaining a career-ending injury. He learned the Air Raid and Pistol offenses and worked with running backs, organizing and preparing opponent game film each week.

Hearn played tight end and fullback at Bakersfield for two seasons, earning All-Conference honors in both campaigns, and helping the Renegades to a state championship as a freshman before transferring to Washington State.

Hearn earned an associate’s in Liberal Studies from Bakersfield College in 2015 and a bachelor’s in Liberal Studies with a focus in Sports Management from Cal State-Bakersfield in 2017.
