Long enters his first season at Sewanee after spending the last two years as a member of The Citadel football staff. Long served as the Bulldogs' special teams quality control coach.

Prior to his stint at the Citadel, Long graduated as a Dean's List student from Lenoir-Rhyne in 2014 with a bachelor's degree in exercise science and a minor in business. As a standout defensive lineman on the Bears' football team, Long served as a team captain his senior year.

The Gainesville, Va., native received South Atlantic Conference Defensive Player of the Week accolades during the course of the 2013 season and earned All-SAC honors while being named to the NCAA Division II All-America Second-Team selection.

Additionally, Long guided Lenoir-Rhyne win three straight SAC titles, reach the Division II National Championship game in 2013.
