Gordon Hight, L’19 enters his second year on the Sewanee football staff, taking on added responsibilities while continuing to handle Football Operations.

Hight coached special teams in 2024 and will serve as the running backs coach as well as the recruiting coordinator for the program in 2025. Last season he tutored punter Jack Satterfield, who garnered First Team All-SAA accolades, averaging 43.4 yards-per-punt with 18 punts of 50-plus yards and 15 boots inside the 20-yard line. Satterfield earned SAA Special Teams Player of the Week honors twice during the 2024 campaign.
 
Hight worked with the Sewanee program during their 2023 campaign, photographing the team’s accomplishments for a photo book titled Mountain Uprising. Prior to that, he served as the Interim Co-Head of School and Dean of Students at the Jackson Hole Community School in Jackson, Wyo., where he also taught photography. 
 
Hight’s work in high school education also included 10 years at the Wellington School in Columbus, Ohio, and Darlington School in Rome, Ga., where he served as Director of the Upper School. He coached lacrosse for 16 seasons and helped players advance to the collegiate level at several NCAA Division III institutions, including Kenyon College, Wittenberg University and Berry College. He also spent nine years as a fly-fishing guide with WorldCast Anglers in Victor, Idaho.
 
Hight earned a bachelor’s in Economics from the University of Virginia in 1998, a master’s in Business Administration from the University of Georgia in 2002 and a master’s in creative writing from the University of the South in 2019.
