Dylan Barnett enters his second season with the Sewanee football program in 2022 as an assistant, primarily working with the defensive backs.
Barnett arrives on the Domain after a three-year stint at his alma mater Centre College, where he coached wide receivers and was the assistant recruiting coordinator. During his time with the Colonels, he was responsible for breaking down opponent's game film and personnel scouting. Additionally, he coached punt returners and assisted the department's academic progress.
In 2018, in which the Colonels went 10-2 overall and reached the NCAA Division III Championships, three receivers that he coached were named to the All-SAA Team. Jaylon Hibbs set program records with 13 receiving touchdowns and 1,238 yards, leading the league with 20.3 yards-per-catch. He also set the single-game mark with 211 receiving yards against Millsaps (Oct. 27), and went on to earn an invite to the prestigious Hula Bowl All-Star Game.
Along with his work on the field, Barnett also maintained the social media accounts for the football program at Centre.
Prior to his time with Centre, he was at St. Xavier High School in Louisville, Ky as a cornerbacks coach.
After his playing days were sidelined due to injury, he joined the coaching staff in 2016 as a student assistant, working primarily with defensive backs.
Barnett graduated from Centre College in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology.
