Tigers drop road contest to No. 19 Shenandoah

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Maggie Hazelrigg scored the seventh goal of her freshman season, and Natalie BeVier tallied her second goal of the year, but the Tigers fell short in a 5-2 loss Saturday afternoon to No. 19 Shenandoah.

Hazelrigg found the back of the cage with an assist from Molly Haskell less than seven minutes into the game.

The Hornets responded with three first-half goals to take a 3-1 advantage into halftime, and they added another goal from Ava Fields with 11:40 left in the third quarter.

BeVier cut the deficit down to 4-2 on an unassisted goal with just under six minutes remaining in the third. Kierney Weigle gave the Hornets an insurance goal late in the fourth.

BeVier and Catherine Crane paced the Tigers with two shots on target each.

The Tigers play at No. 25 Lynchburg Sunday at 12 p.m. ET/11 a.m. CT.
