Lloyd tallies goal and assist as Tigers topple Covenant on the road, 3-1

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Brady Lloyd scored a goal and added an assist, while Thomas McGowan and Isaac Rasheed also found the back of the net as the Tigers defeated Covenant on the road Tuesday night, 3-1.

The Tigers outshot the Scots, 19-11, including a 12-3 advantage in shots on goal. Covenant goalkeeper JT Tolson kept the Scots in the game with nine saves.

McGowan broke through in the 19th minute, as Jonah Cooker played the ball through the Covenant defense and McGowan beat the keeper to give Sewanee an early lead.

Rasheed doubled the Tigers' lead in the 32nd minute, with Lloyd providing the assist.

Lloyd added an insurance goal in the 71st minute, scoring unassisted to push the Sewanee lead to 3-0.

Covenant got on the board in the 84th minute when Cooper Rumley scored off a corner kick, but the Tigers held on for the 3-1 victory.

Sewanee returns to action Friday and Sunday at Rhodes, facing LeTourneau and East Texas Baptist in Memphis, Tenn.
