SEWANEE, Tenn. – Maggie Barker was two-of-three at the plate with a double and a run, while Sydney Tackett added a triple with two runs scored, but Sewanee fell to Centre in softball action on Friday night in Danville, Ky.

The Tigers collected four hits in the game, with two from Barker, and one each from Tackett and Grace Black.

The Colonels got started first in the inning with an RBI single, before Barker answered with a lead-off single and later stole home to even the game at one.

Centre regained the lead in the bottom of the half inning on a solo home run and broke the game open in the fourth, plating six runs on seven hits to take control of the game.

Black sent Tackett home, and Barker doubled down the right field line before advancing to third on an error, and Ansley Giffin scored on the throw to plate Sewanee's third run.

The Colonels, however, added three more in the fifth, led with a two-run homer to secure the five-inning win.

Abby Winkler took the loss in the circle, tossing 3.1 innings with two strikeouts. Ansley Giffin added relief work for Sewanee.

Sewanee will play a doubleheader to close out the series on Saturday, with the first game at Noon.
