Tallman leads Tigers with 800m victory at Dean Hayes Indoor Classic

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Sewanee's indoor track and field teams turned in a strong showing on Saturday, highlighted by a first-place finish from Parker Tallman in the 800 meters and multiple personal-best performances across the meet.

Tallman led wire-to-wire in the men's 800m, crossing the line in 1:58.86 to claim first place. The time marked a personal best and now ranks second all-time in Sewanee program history. Gordon Love also posted a personal record in the event, running a 2:21.51 to place 13th.

In the sprints, Ethan Kline clocked a 6.75 in the 55m prelims to finish 10th. Maxwell Finn recorded personal bests in both the 200m and 400m, taking 14th in the 200m with a time of 24.18 and 11th in the 400m with a 54.32.

Distance runners continued the Tigers' momentum, as Declan Oberlies finished sixth in the mile with a time of 4:40.31. Jack Collins placed seventh in the 3000m, running 8:51.02, a mark that now ranks third all-time in Sewanee history.

On the women's side, Eleanore Graham posted a personal-best 5:31.12 in the mile, moving her into third place on Sewanee's all-time list.

The Tigers also found success in the field events. Lulus White placed fourth in the shot put with a throw of 12.10 meters (39-08.50), while Joshua Locklear finished sixth with a mark of 11.40 meters (37-05).

Sewanee returns to the track next weekend at the Centre International on Saturday, Feb. 14.
