Tigers fall to Millsaps, 1-0

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Millsaps scored in the 15th minute and held off a strong second-half push from Sewanee as the Tigers fell to the Majors, 1-0, Sunday afternoon at Puett Field.

Ellis Dykes put Millsaps on the board at 14:40, scoring his third goal of the season on an unassisted shot.

Sewanee created several opportunities in the opening half, recording five shots, including two on target, but Millsaps goalkeeper Edward Steinwand kept the Tigers off the scoreboard.

The Tigers faced an early setback in the second half when Domenic Desmond was issued a red card at 46:42, leaving Sewanee with 10 players for the remainder of the match.

Despite playing a man down, Sewanee continued to pressure the Majors and outshot Millsaps, 11-4, in the second half. Grayson White, Morgan Rhodes, Isaac Rasheed, and Brady Lloyd each put shots on target, but Steinwand made several saves to preserve the shutout.

Sewanee finished the match with a 16-9 advantage in shots and put seven attempts on target. Reid Gunzenhauser made four saves for the Tigers, while Steinwand recorded seven saves for Millsaps.

With the loss, Sewanee falls to 7-2-2 overall and 0-1-1 in Southern Athletic Association play.
