SEWANEE, Tenn. –
Grayson White netted two goals in the first 20 minutes and
Stokes McConnell and
Thomas McGowan added scores in the second half in Sewanee's 4-0 victory over William Peace on Saturday in men's soccer action in Cary, N.C.
The Tigers (6-0-2) remained unbeaten and won their first road match of the season with Saturday's win. The squad plays again Sunday at 10 a.m. CT at Greensboro College.
White scored in the second and 16
th minutes for an early lead, his eighth and ninth goals of the season. McConnell netted his goal six minutes into the second period and McGowan, in his first action of the year, found the back of the net in the final 15 minutes.
Sewanee dominated the run of play for most of the match, outshooting the Pacers, 15-4, overall and 10-1 in shots on goal. William Peace goalkeeper Ayden Miller collected six saves in net while Tigers keeper
Nathan Vanhoeve made one save.
Sewanee scored less than two minutes into the match when White was tackled in the box and converted the penalty kick.
Then in the 16
th minute
Jonah Cooker's cross after a throw-in bounced past two William Peace defenders and found White near the penalty spot. He buried the shot, low and left to the far post, for a 2-0 Sewanee advantage.
In the second half, McConnell took advantage of a poor goal kick, taking the ball down the right side, cutting back toward the middle in the box and beating Miller low and right, just inside the post, in the 51
st minute.

Luke Manley played a ball past two defenders down the left side and McGowan beat a hard-charging Miller to the far post for the final goal.
