SEWANEE, Tenn. – Charlie Teel and Tyler Pinson each plated runs, but Centre used a series of big innings to pull away for a 12-2 win over Sewanee in SAA postseason play Saturday evening in Danville, Ky.

Sewanee struck first in the second game of the best-of-three series, as Teel opened the game with a double and lated scored on a Zach Fortman RBI single through the left side. The Tigers recorded three hits in the opener, but left the bases loaded.

On the mound, Taj Donald kept Centre off balance early, striking out the side in the first, allowing just one hit in the second, and inducing a double play in the third to preserve the early lead.

The Tigers added to their lead in the fourth when Tyler Pinson stole home with two outs, giving Sewanee a 2-0 edge.

However, Centre's offense came alive in the bottom of the fourth, stringing together a double, RBI single, and a three-run homer to take a 4-2 lead. The colornels added two more in the fifth and broke the game open with four runs and the sixth and two in the seventh to secure the win.

With the win, the Colonels advance to the semifinals of the 2025 SAA Tournament, where the final four teams will play a double-elimination format, starting next week.

Despite the loss, Sewanee concludes the 2025 season with a 20-20 overall record, marking just the second time since 1985 that the Tigers have finished with a .500 season record.
