Jacob Heilpern placed eighth in the pole vault while junior
Lane Gamble and freshman
Ethan Kline both qualified for the finals in sprint events for the Sewanee men on the first day of the 2025 SAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships here Friday.
Allen cleared 13-feet, 10.5-inches for second place in the pole vault, the third-best mark in program history, while Heilpern cleared 10-5.25 for eighth place, with the duo picking up nine total points in the team standings for the Tigers.
Gamble posted the second-best qualifying mark in the 400-meters in 50.56 while sophomore
Jimmy Holmes just missed making the finals, finishing ninth in 52.56 and junior
Brandon Christ was 10
th in 52.94.
Kline ran the fastest qualifying time in the 200-meters, the second event after a 90-minute rain delay, finishing in 22.29 while senior
Jenkins Darbney was 16
th in 24.45. Kline placed fourth in qualifying for the 100-meters in 10.92, second-best in school history. Heilpern and Darbney did not make the finals, registering times of 11.36 and 11.79, respectively.
Senior
Stephen Goetze placed fourth in the javelin with a mark of 143-feet, 2-inches and junior
Gavin Potter was 12
th (116-10). Potter led four Sewanee throwers in the hammer, finishing 11
th with a mark of 123-0, second-best in program records, while junior
Lukus White was 12
th (111-0), junior
Brayden Owens placed 14
th (103-5), sixth-best in school history) and sophomore
Stevie Mack was 16
th (91-8).
