Men's track and field hosts Mountain Laurel Invite

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Sewanee's track and field teams hosted the annual Mountain Laurel Open on Saturday afternoon. The men's track and field program broke seven top-10 Sewanee times over the day.

Parker Tallman led the men's team on the track, breaking a 16-year-old Sewanee record, and placing fourth in the 1500 meters, running a 3:58.64. Brandon Christ took 14th in the 800 meters (2:03.70), and Jenkins Darbney clocked 11.88 in the 100 meters.

In the 400 meters, Lane Gamble earned a third-place finish with a time of 50.43, and James Holmes placed seventh (52.47). Ethan Kline secured third in the 400-meter hurdles (22.37).

In the field, Stephen Goetze had Sewanee's top javelin finish, placing eighth with a mark of 142-0 (43.27m). Gavin Potter followed in 11th (126-3 / 38.48m), and Lukus White was 15th (110-10 / 33.77m).

In the hammer throw, Stevie Mack led the Tigers in 10th place (114-2 / 34.80m), followed by Potter in 11th (112-6 / 34.29m), White in 12th (112-2 / 34.19m), and Brayden Owens in 17th (93-10 / 28.54m). Owens also placed 21st in the discus (100-11 / 30.75m), with White taking 25th (92-7 / 28.21m) and Mack 27th (88-4 / 26.93m).

In the shot put, White finished 16th (39-3.25 / 11.97m), Potter was 18th (35-10.75 / 10.94m), and Owens came in 22nd (32-6.5 / 9.92m).

In the pole vault, Elliott Allen cleared 12-11.5 (3.95m) to finish eighth, while Jacob Heilpern took 11th with a height of 10-0 (3.05m).

Sewanee hosts the Southern Athletic Association Conference track and field meet on April 25 and 26.
