Declan Oberlies won the steeplechase, freshman
Elliott Allen finished first in the pole vault while freshman
Parker Tallman placed second in the 800-meters and freshman
Ethan Kline was second in the 200-meters and fourth in the 100-meters for Sewanee men's track and field this weekend at the Maryville Scots Invitational in Maryville, Tenn.
Oberlies was first in the men's steeplechase in 10:06.00, a personal-best by 12 seconds and the fourth fastest mark in program annals.
Tallman finished second in the 800 in 1:56.69 while junior
Brandon Christ placed seventh in a personal-best 2:03.27, Oberlies finished 15
th in 2:07.66 and freshman
Henry Zanone was 20
th in 2:19.49.
Kline qualified third in the 100 in 11.05 and placed fourth in the finals in 11.03, third-best in school history. Then later in the day Kline finished second in the 200 in 22.25, breaking the school record previosly set in 2009 by Sewanee Hall of Famer Chalankis Brown. Junior
Lane Gamble was fifth in the event in 23.24 and senior
Jenkins Darbney placed 14
th in 24.37.
Sophomore
Jimmy Holmes finished seventh in the 400-meters in 54.26 and junior
Gavin Stallings was ninth in 58.73. Sophomore
Reed Siegler finished 14
th in the 1500-meters in 5:17.12.
Allen continued his terrific freshman campaign, clearing 13-feet, 6.25-inches to win the pole vault.
Junior
Brayden Owens finished eighth in the discus with a mark of 117-5.5 and was ninth in the shot put with a mark of 32-5.5. Sophomore
Stevie Mack placed eighth in the hammer throw with a personal-best of 116-feet, 10-inches, fourth-best in Sewanee history.
