Tigers remain undefeated with road win over George Fox

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Marlin Price scored seven goals and Sally Herrington posted eight points as Sewanee women's lacrosse stayed undefeated, improving to 5-0 with a decisive victory over George Fox on Saturday.

The Tigers wasted no time, with Price converting a free-position shot in the opening minute to set the tone. Price struck again moments later, capitalizing on a turnover caused by Winnie Pajcic. After George Fox responded with a free-position goal, Sewanee quickly answered as Brooke Sigmon found the net.

Herrington closed the quarter with back-to-back goals in a 30-second span, giving Sewanee a 5-3 edge despite a late man-up goal by the Bruins.

Sewanee extended their lead in the second, with Price netting a man-down goal off a Sigmon assist. Sigmon followed with a goal of her own, and Price added another free-position strike. Though George Fox added three goals, including two in the final 32 seconds of the half, the Tigers maintained a 9-6 advantage.

The third quarter saw Sewanee dominate, scoring six unanswered goals. Price opened with a man-up goal from Ella Townsend, and Herrington tallied two more, assisted by Elizabeth Muller and Sigmon. Price added her third free-position goal, before Herrington connected with Kennedy Harcourt for another man-up score, pushing Sewanee's lead to 15-6.

Herrington and Sigmon continued their offensive connection in the fourth, combining for two more goals. Price notched her fourth free-position goal of the day, while George Fox added two late goals, including one in the final 30 seconds.

Sewanee outshot George Fox 30-15 and forced 15 turnovers to the Bruins' 12. Harcourt anchored the defense with five caused turnovers, four ground balls, a goal, and an assist, while Erica Bolcar and Mallory Magee each contributed two caused turnovers.

Alex Kelly secured six draw controls, with Sigmon adding three and both Price and Herrington collecting two each.

Herrington led the offense with five goals and three assists, followed by Sigmon with four goals and two assists.

The Tigers return to action Monday, facing Saint Mary's College at 8 p.m. CT (6 p.m. PT) in a neutral-site matchup hosted by George Fox.
