Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Tigers cruise into 3-0

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Erika Bolcar and Brooke Sigmon each netted four goals as the Sewanee women's lacrosse team cruised to a 19-2 victory over Concordia Wisconsin on Tuesday night at Puett Field.

Sigmon filled the stat sheet with an assist, four draw-control wins, two ground balls, and a caused turnover. Bolcar added two assists, three ground balls, and two caused turnovers to her four-goal performance. Marlin Price contributed a hat trick, four ground balls, and two draw-control wins, while Alex Kelly and Alexa Berg scored two goals apiece.

Kelly dominated the draw circle with seven wins, adding a caused turnover and scoring on both of her shot attempts.

Defensively, Kennedy Harcourt led the Tigers with four caused turnovers and four ground balls. Izzo Palmer added three caused turnovers and four ground balls, while Clara Earley, Madison Mezzatesta, Winnie Pajcic, and Price each chipped in two caused turnovers.

Sewanee set the tone early, with Price scoring the opening goal off a ground ball pickup by Sally Herrington at the 11:44 mark. The Tigers went on to tally eight more goals to close out the first quarter.

Berg opened the second quarter with a goal, followed by a man-up score from Price. Concordia broke through with a man-up goal of their own, but Sewanee quickly responded with goals from Berg and Bolcar to take a commanding lead into halftime.

Whitehead connected with Sigmon to kick off the second-half scoring, followed by goals from Bolcar, Jessie Salisbury, and two more from Sigmon, stretching the lead to 17-1.

Kelly won the opening draw of the fourth quarter and drove to the net for another goal, while Molly Starkey capped the scoring off an assist from Elizabeth Mueller. Concordia added a late goal, but the Tigers sealed the 19-2 win with a dominant all-around performance.

The Tigers will head to the Pacific Northwest for spring break where they will play five games in six days, starting with Pacific University on Friday, March 7.
