SEWANEE, Tenn. – Freshman
Journey Morrison finished second in the 100-meter hurdles, setting a school record in the process, while the women's 4x800-meter relay placed first and freshman
Elizabeth Cook was fourth in the 1500-meters, leading Sewanee track and field Saturday on the second day of the Emory Thrills in the Hills in Atlanta, Ga.
The meet features teams from Divisions I, II and III as well as NAIA and is hosted by Emory University.
Morrison set a school record in the hurdles with a 15.43 in qualifying and then broke that mark in the finals with a time of 15.29, good enough for second place overall in the event. Senior
Jocelyn Covaney and junior
Erin Graffeo posted times of 17.43 and 18.09, respectively, in qualifying.
Morrison also registered the third-best time in program history program record in the 100-meters on Saturday with a time of 12.85 while freshman
Arianna Shirak finished in 13.41.
Cook registered the 10
th-best time in program annals in the 1500, finishing fourth in 5:08.79. Freshman
Molly Emmett completed the event in 5:59.20. Freshman
Josie Blanton posted a time of 3:05.79 in the 800-meters.

Abigail Armstrong collected a winning time of 9:59.70 for a program record as well. The 4x100-meter relay squad of freshman
Emory Rhodes, Shirak, Covaney and Morrison was 14
th in 51.75.
Rhodes recorded the third-best mark in school history in the pole vault, clearing 9-feet, 10-inches for 11
th place in the event. Junior
Cydney Wright placed 14
th in the shot put with a mark of 35-11, ninth-best all-time at Sewanee and freshman
Hannah Cleveland was 22
nd with a mark of 32-11, 10
th-best at Sewanee. Wright also placed eighth in the javelin with a mark of 92-6, 10
th-best in program history.
For the men, freshman
Elliott Allen finished eighth in the pole vault, clearing 11-feet, 1.75-inches, while junior
Lukus White was 13
th in the shot put with a mark of 40-3.75, with junior
Gavin Potter (36-0.75) and junior
Brayden Owens (33-0) behind White in the event.
Ethan Kline collected the seventh-best mark in the 100-meters in 11.29 while freshman
Jacob Heilpern and senior
Jenkins Darbney posted times of 11.65 and 12.20, respectively. The men's 4x100-meter relay of Heilpern, junior
Lane Gamble, sophomore
Jackson Knoll and sophomore
Jimmy Holmes finished eighth in 44.78.
Gamble netted the 10
th-best time at Sewanee in the 400-meters with a time of 50.98 while junior
Gavin Stallings finished in 57.36. Freshman
Parker Tallman was 13
th in the 800-meters in 1:55.45, the third-fastest time in program history, with junior
Brandon Christ (2:06.29), freshman
Henry Zanone (2:16.87) and sophomore Reid Siegler (2:23.74) also in the event.
Sewanee competes again in two weeks at the Maryville Scots Invitational in Maryville, Tenn., on April 11-12. The Tigers will host the Mountain Laurel Invitational on April 19 and the SAA Championships on April 25-26.
