SEWANEE, Tenn. – Sewanee women's tennis fell on day one of the ITA National Indoor Championships to the No. 1 ranked team in the country, the University of Chicago at the Leftwich Tennis Center in Memphis, Tenn.

Emma Caldwell and Ivy Wilson won at two doubles, 7-5, but the Maroons took the remaining two doubles matches to collect the doubles point. Sarah Livingston and Harper High fell to Nicole Geller and Charlotte Klein at three, 6-4, and Brooke Despriet and Ansley Carpenter lost to Oliwia and Sylwia Mikos 6-1, at one.

Chicago kept the momentum into singles, collecting their first singles win at line three, as Erica Ekstrand, ranked four in the country, beat Mariella Congeni 6-1, 6-3. Ansley Carpenter lost to line one to Sylwia Mikos, the 33 ranked player in the country, 6-1, 6-1.

Livingston fell at two to Geller, 6-4, 6-2, and Ivy Wilson fell at four to Sarena Biria, 6-2, 6-1. Harper High dropped the first set 6-1, but fought back for a closer second set, 7-5. Caldwell fell at five, 6-1, 6-0.

Sewanee will face No. 4 Wesleyan at 9 a.m. tomorrow where the winner will advance to play for the fifth place while the loser will play for seventh on Sunday.
