SEWANEE, Tenn. – Men's tennis dropped a close 3-4 decision on the road against No. 29 Christopher Newport in Lexington, Va. on Saturday afternoon.
Sewanee picked up the doubles points as the Tigers picked up wins at No. 1 and No. 2. Jordan Theron and Talman Ramsey picked up a quick 6-1 win at two before Gil Weston and Andre-Remi Jakobi clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 win.
Theron registered another quick win, dropping just four games all day, with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 1 to give the Tigers an early 2-0 win. However, the Captains picked up singles wins at No. 4 and No. 2, tying the match at 2 all.
Ramsey battled to win the match tiebreaker in the third set at No. 3, 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (12-10), giving Sewanee the edge. However, the Tigers dropped two third set tiebreakers, sending CNU past the Tigers, 4-3.
Sewanee will face No. 27 Washington and Lee on Sunday at 10 AM ET/9 AM CT in Lexington, Va.
