Sewanee women secure third place at SAA Championship, men finish fourth

SEWANEE, Tenn. – The Sewanee swimming and diving teams wrapped up competition at the 2025 Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Championships with strong performances on the final day.

The Sewanee women's team secured third place overall with 592.5 points, while the men's team earned fourth place with 473 points.

Head coach Mark Fino was named SAA Men's Coach of the Year, marking his first SAA major award.

The men's 400 freestyle relay team of Andrew Olsen, Carter Nabors, Henry Lindeman, and Josh Kim made history, winning the event in 3:05.02 to claim the first-ever Sewanee men's relay championship in conference history. Their time also set a new Sewanee school record, capping a championship meet filled with record-breaking performances for the Tigers.

On the women's side, Audrey Francell, Ada Digby, Natalia Evans, and Mary-Louise LeMieux finished third in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:34.78. Their time also set the school record in the 400 freestyle relay.

Olsen added another highlight with a first-place finish in the 100 freestyle, clocking 45.54 to out-touch his closest competitor by 0.3 seconds, and breaking another school record. Digby and Evans also scored for Sewanee in the 100 freestyle with fourth and sixth-place finishes, respectively.

Tyler Foster secured fourth place in the 200 backstroke, touching the wall in 1:52.31, also marking his name in Sewanee's record books, breaking the school record.

The women's team dominated the 1650 freestyle, placing six swimmers in the top 12. Ella Deitch finished third with a time of 18:01.85, followed closely by LeMieux in fourth with 18:04.02. Ava Mack, Adeline Willett, Sophia Yanoshik, and Jules Vidal also contributed points for the Tigers in the event.
