Four women's tennis athletes garner CSC Academic All-District honors

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Sewanee had four women's tennis players honored on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors as announced by the organization on Tuesday afternoon. Brooke Despriet, Katherine Petty, Nicole Nowak, and Sarah Livingston were all honored for Sewanee.

To be nominated for the award, a student-athlete must be a sophomore academically and athletically with a minimum 3.5 grade-point average. Nominees must also compete in 70 percent of the team's matches in which a team score is awarded.

Despriet, a junior from Cumming, Ga. earned her second-straight Academic All-District honors. Despriet is majoring in finance with a business minor, this season, she played one doubles and two singles for the Tigers. She is ranked fourth nationally with her doubles partner, Petty, and is ranked 44th nationally in singles. Despriet and Petty will compete for the second year as a team in the NCAA Individual Doubles Championships. Despriet is a three-time doubles All-American and the reigning NCAA Doubles National Champion with her partner Petty.

Petty, a senior from Dallas, Texas earned her first CSC selection. Petty majored in economics with a business minor and this season played both one doubles and singles for the Tigers. Petty is the reigning NCAA Doubles National Champion with Despriet and the duo will have the chance to defend their title as they earned their second berth into the NCAA Individual Doubles Tournament. The doubles duo is ranked fourth nationally.

Nowak, a senior from Alabaster, Ala. earned her second-straight CSC selection. Nowak is a mathematics major with a biology minor. Nowak played three doubles and six singles for the Tigers this season.

Livingston, a junior from Fairfax, Va. rounded out the Tigers CSC selections as she earned her first Academic All-District Selection. Livingston is a chemistry major. Livingston competed at two doubles and four singles this season for Sewanee.

Only a select group of student-athletes, chosen by CSC committees, advance from the Academic All-District submission status to the Academic All-American ballot, Despriet, Petty, and Nowak have all advanced to be considered for an All-American honor.
