Barbee, Congeni, High, Wilson garner CSC Academic All-District honors

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Sewanee's women's tennis team placed four student-athletes on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, as announced by the organization on Tuesday afternoon.

Lexi Barbee, Mariella Congeni, Harper High, and Ivy Wilson each earned the honor for the first time in their careers.

Barbee primarily competed at No. 3 doubles for the Tigers alongside High, who also played No. 2 singles for Sewanee this season. Congeni and Wilson teamed up at No. 1 doubles and are currently ranked No. 18 nationally by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. The duo also earned a berth into the NCAA Division III Doubles Championship field, joining 16 doubles teams competing for a national title. Congeni additionally qualified for the NCAA Division III Singles Championship, which features a 32-player draw.

Congeni was also selected to advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot, where she will be considered for national honors by CSC members. First-, second-, and third-team Academic All-America selections will be announced on June 2.

Each institution with a CSC membership may nominate up to four student-athletes for Academic All-District recognition in women's tennis. Nominees must hold at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA, be at least a sophomore academically, and compete in 75 percent of the team's matches during the season.
