SEWANEE, Tenn. – Charlie Pizzuti clinched the match at six singles in men's tennis action on Saturday morning over Rhodes College in Memphis, Tenn.

The Tigers got off to a strong start winning all doubles for a 3-0 lead going into singles. In doubles, Liam Baer and Gil Weston collected a routine win at line two 8-2. Jordan Theron and Quinn Wicklund finished second with an 8-5 result, at line three, Talman Ramsey and Andre-Remi Jakobi collected an 8-6 win.

Ramsey finished singles first as he dropped just three games in the first set and did not drop another for a 6-3, 6-0 finish. Pizzuti, at six, clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-2 result over Hunter Johnson. Weston finished next at line three with a 6-3, 6-4 result and Henry Hyden collected a straight-set win at line six over Owen Kohler, 6-4, 6-2. The Tigers played tighter at lines one and two as both matches went to a third set breaker. Wicklund took the first set 6-4, dropped the second 2-6, but took control in the third set tiebreaker for a 10-2 win. At line one, Theron took the first set 6-3, before losing the next two sets in a tiebreaker. He lost the second set, 6-7 with a 5-7 tiebreaker, and fell in the superbreaker for the third set, 10-12.

The Tigers travel to Hendrix to compete in their last regular season conference match on Sunday at Noon before they host No. 27 Washington and Lee at home on Tuesday, April 23 at 3 p.m. CT.
