Men's Tennis picks up two Saturday wins

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Sewanee collected two 7-2 wins in men's tennis action on Saturday in Rome, Ga. against Berry and Covenant at the Rome Tennis Center. 

Against Berry, Jordan Theron and Quinn Wicklund collected an 8-5 win over Noah Koch and Diego Lopez at line one. At line three, Gil Weston and Liam Baer didn't drop a game for an 8-0 win. At line two, Peyton Erck and Andre-Remi Jacobi fell against Drayton Matus and Bohdan Higley 8-2. 

In singles, Theron collected a 6-4, 6-4 win at line one. Weston, at line three, collected a 6-3, 6-4 win over Matus. Talman Ramsey recorded a 7-5, 6-3 win at line four. Henry Hyden, at five, posted a 6-4, 6-2 win. Sewanee's final point came from Charlie Pizzuti at six with a 6-2, 6-2 win. At two singles, Wicklund lost the first set 1-6, he came back and won the second 6-4, and lost in a third set super tiebreaker, 10-4. 

Against Covenant, the Tigers swept doubles, entering singles up 3-0. At one doubles, Theron and Wicklund collected an 8-3 win. At two, Weston and Baer also posted an 8-3 win over their opponents, Camden Lashley and Solomon Crouch. Ramsey and Jakobi completed the doubles sweep with an 8-4 win. 

In singes, George Alexander Thomas collected a routine 6-0, 6-1 win at six singles. At two, Weston registered a 6-0, 6-3 result. Drew Rukavina, at five, posted a 6-3, 6-2 win, and Henry Hyden collected the Tigers' last point with a 7-6 (3), 6-0 decision at four. 

At line one, Quinn Wicklund lost two close sets in tiebreakers for a 6-7 (1), 6-7 (4) decision. At three, Ramsey collected the first set 6-4, but had to retire in the second with a 1-3 score, for a final match score of 7-2. 

Sewanee travels to Atlanta to face Oglethorpe on Sunday morning.
