Game Recap: Softball |

Softball drops doubleheader to No. 6 Berry

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Eve Bournias sent Kaylie Smith home for the Tiger's lone run of the day as they fell against No. 6 Berry in a doubleheader on Thursday, 11-0 and 10-1. The two teams will conclude the three-game series with a single game Sunday at Noon.  

The Tigers collected just one hit in the fourth inning of the opener from Sydney Tackett with a single to left field. But, the Vikings drove in at least one run every inning to take the first game of the series, 11-0, in five innings. 

In game two, with Abbie Buckner at the mound for the Tigers, they held off the Vikings until the end of the third inning when a three-run home run from Anna Jackson with two outs gave Berry the lead going into the fourth. 

A double from Smith in the bottom of the six with two outs got the Tigers on base for the first time of the game. Bournias then sent Smith home with a single to left field to put the Tigers on the board. 

Berry extended their lead with a five-run inning in the top of the seventh. 

Tackett tacked a last hit to open the seventh, but a double play and a fouled out secured the win for Berry, 10-1. 

Sewanee hosts Berry for the final game of the series on Sunday before heading to Arizona for six games in four days.
