SEWANEE, Tenn. –
Mike Lewishall posted two hits and
Wilson Irvin drove in a run but Sewanee managed just six hits in a 5-1 loss to Lyon College on Sunday morning in Pensacola, Fla., concluding the team's Spring Break trip with a 4-2 mark.
Lyon plated single runs in the third and fifth innings and three runs in the sixth for a 5-0 lead before Sewanee loaded the bases in the seventh thanks to singles by
Blake Pou and
Mike Lewishall and
Owen Andress reached on an error. Irvin walked, forcing in a run, but
Luke Short struck out to end the inning.
Cameron Gordon (2-2) tossed a complete game for the Scots (4-8), allowing an unearned run with two walks and nine strikeouts. He retired the side in order in the first, fourth, sixth, eighth and ninth innings.
Ryan Moll (1-1) gave up four runs on four hits with four walks in five innings to take the loss for the Tigers (10-10).
Ben Weiser tossed the final three innings for Sewanee, allowing one run on two hits with four strikeouts.
Sewanee returns to SAA action next weekend, with a three-game series at Millsaps College.
