Tigers down No. 18 Kenyon, 6-3

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Nicole Nowak clinched the match at No. 6 doubles as the Tigers took down No. 18 Kenyon, 6-3 on Tuesday afternoon at Pepperdine University in Malibu, Cali. 

Ansley Carpenter and Sarah Livingston claimed the first doubles match of the day 8-5 against Eleni Dakos and Shadia Amado Aguad. Kenyon then tied the match at one point all as Lalasa Nagireddy and Ana Brand defeated Nicole Nowak and Mariella Congeni 8-6. 

Brooke Despriet and Katherine Petty posted an 8-7 (7-5) decision over Eleni Lazaridou and Allaire Berl to send Sewanee into singles up 2-1. 

Livingston was the first to finish in singles at line four with a 6-3, 6-3 win and Congeni followed with another straight sets win at No. 5 singles for a 4-1 lead which set up Nowak for the clinch. 

At line six, Nowak took the first set 6-4, before falling in the second 4-6. However, Nowak regrouped quickly and took the third set with a decisive 6-1 to secure the win for Sewanee. 

Petty finished next, as she lost a tight match to Lazaridou, 6-2, 7-6 (8-6) at line one. Despriet collected another point for the Tigers, coming back from losing the first set 4-6, and winning the next two, 6-3, 6-2. At line three, Carpenter fell in an extremely competitive match, falling in the third set tie-breaker, 8-6. 

The Tigers travel to Claremont, Calif. Tomorrow, March 13 to face the number three ranked Pomoma-Pitzer at 4 p.m. CT.
