Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. – Sarah Livingston won a 6-3, 6-4 decision at No. 4 singles to clinch the match for the fourteenth-ranked women's tennis team over Bowdoin College, the twenty-eighth ranked team in the nation.
All three doubles matches of the day were concluded with an 8-4 score with the Tigers coming out on top of two of the three. Nicole Nowak and Mariella Congeni came away with the first point of the day with a win over Elizabeth Yu and Zoe Sun at No. 3. Bowdin tied it up as Caroline Stuhlfaut and Hannah Buckhout bested Ansley Carpenter and Sarah Livingston at No.2, but Brooke Despriet and Katherine Petty came away with the win at No. 1 for the 2-1 lead going into singles.
Petty continued the momentum for Sewanee winning at No. 1 7-5, 6-2. Despriet tallied a 4-1 lead for Sewanee with a 6-3, 7-5 decision at line two. Livingston clinched the match over No. 28 Bowdoin for Sewanee with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Sun.
Bowdin tallied their final two points of the day next as Congeni had to retire at line five in the third set. Carpenter fell at line three in a tight match, with each set decided in a tie breaker, 6-7 (4), 6-7 (5).
Nowak recorded a three set thriller at line six, 7-5, 3-6, 6-2 for the final 6-3 score.
Sewanee competes against No. 18 Kenyon College, tomorrow, March 12 at 1 p.m. PT/ 3 p.m. CT at Pepperdine.
