Men's tennis falls in exhibition to UTC

SEWANEE, Tenn. – The men's tennis team opened their spring season today with an exhibition match against The University of Tennessee Chattanooga on Sunday afternoon in Chattanooga, Tenn. 

Sewanee faced tough competition against the DI Mocs, but the Tigers held their own as they battled but came up just short, 1-6. 

Talman Ramsey picked up the Tigers' lone point at number five singles as he fought back from losing the first set 6-0 and won two tiebreakers to secure the win. Ramsey took the second 7-6 and won the tight tiebreak, 11-9. 

Gil Weston also played a three-set match at number four singles, but Grove of UTC finished on top of the three-set battle, 2-6, 6-2, 6-2. 

 The Tigers host their season opener, on Feb 10, as they welcome #13 Cumberland University and UT Southern for a double-header at the Tiger Den Invitational starting at 10 am and 5 pm respectively.
