Volleyball drops regular season finale at Covenant

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Savannah Gann led the team defensively with 17 digs as Maria Kennedy led the Tigers offensively with seven kills as Sewanee fell in volleyball action on the road against Covenant for their last regular season game. 

The Tigers struggled on offense, hitting negative for the match, while the Scots hit .240 with just nine errors for the match. 

Kennedy added six digs and an ace to her night, while Gann added six kills, and Mollie White had six. 

Sophia Caruso added 10 digs, three assists, and two aces, while Emma Meyer posted 12 assists and nine digs. 

Sewanee held even in the first for a 10 all-set, until the Scots ran away with a 10-2 run and didn't let the Tigers back in, giving up just two more points, for a 25-14 first set. 

The Scots opened the second, maintaining their momentum, and took an early 10-4 lead off of four consecutive kills from Covenant. The Scotts closed out the second set with a 5-2 run, off of three Sewanee errors, and a Covenant ace and kill. 

Sewanee took a three-point lead in the third set, but two Sewanee errors and another Covenant ace tied the set at 13.  Another run from the Scotts, this time, 7-3 gave Covenant a four-point lead, as the took the final set 25-21. 

The Tigers will face Berry in the Quarterfinals of the SAA tournament in Danville, Ky. on Nov. 15 at 5 p.m. ET/ 4 p.m. CT.
