SEWANEE, Tenn. –
Taylor Klesel made a standout nine saves, but Sewanee's field hockey season ended in a hard-fought overtime loss to Rhodes in the semifinals of the CFHC Tournament.
Shepard Ramsey led the Tigers' offense, taking two shots on goal, while
Natalie BeVier and
Mimi Wilson each added a shot on target.
Both teams remained locked in a scoreless battle through regulation, with Sewanee putting up a strong defensive effort to keep Rhodes at bay and apply pressure on the Lynx defense.
Rhodes, however, held a decisive edge in penalty corners, taking eight to Sewanee's two. Four of those came in overtime, where the Lynx capitalized on a corner to score the game-winner.
The Tigers posted 10 shots, with four on goal, while Rhodes registered 16 shots, including 10 on target. Klesel's nine saves marked a season-high for the sophomore goalkeeper.
With the win, Rhodes advances to the championship match, where they will face the winner between No. 1 seed Mary Washington and No. 3 seed Centre College.
