Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. – Brianne Fee scored a goal in each half in Sewanee's 3-0 win against Oglethorpe University in women's soccer action Saturday night in Atlanta, Ga.
Fee found the back of the net in the 35
th minute and again in the 85
th minute while the Tigers (6-1-4, 2-0-0 SAA) dominated possession for much of the match, outshooting the Petrels, 19-1. Sewanee received an own goal off a scramble in front of the net in the 87
th minute.
The Tigers dictated possession for the first 30 minutes of the match but had only a 5-0 advantage in shots to show for it, but a turnover in the midfield led to a breakaway and the first goal for Sewanee.
Cassis Yappen won a ball just on the Tigers side of the field and fed
Kylene Monaghan going forward. Monaghan dribbled down the middle of the field for 30 yards before playing a ball down the leftside to
Susie Whitsett, who took one touch before sliding the ball to Fee. She fired with the leftfoot into the side-netting, far post, in the 35
th minute, for a 1-0 Sewanee edge.
Oglethorpe goalkeeper Grace Elsevier registered four saves against nine total shots in the period.
Sewanee continued probing for the second goal for almost the entire second half before Richards' corner kick found Fee in front of the net for her second score of the evening.
Elsevier finished with five saves and Katherine Crim added two saves for Oglethorpe (4-5-1, 0-2-0).
Sewanee hosts Covenant College this Tuesday at 6 p.m. and takes on Millsaps College this coming Friday, both at Puett Field.
