Late run sends Warriors past Tigers

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Luka Avaliani led Sewanee with 10 points four rebounds, and three steals, but cold shooting from the Tigers and a late run from Hendrix sent the Warriors past Sewanee in men's basketball action on Sunday afternoon in Conway, Arkansas. 

The Tigers shot just 5-for-24 behind the arc and were 19-of-55 overall. The Tigers led by two going into half-time thanks to a three from Tre Corrigan with five seconds left in the half for their first lead of the game. 

Hendrix had an early eight-point lead but the Tigers went on a 17-to-9 run to tie the game at 21, with five different players scoring for Sewanee. Fletcher Bigham led the Tigers with six and Graham Smith and Cody Baerlocker with four apiece. 

Both teams stayed within one possession of each other throughout the beginning of the second half, but with just under six minutes left, the Warriors pulled ahead by a 17-to-7 run. Hendrix ended the game with the biggest lead of the day. 

Bigham led the Tigers in rebounds, with seven, He also posted eight points, two blocks, an assist, and a steal. Rashaun Williams followed Avaliani with nine points, four rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Corrigan tallied eight points, four rebounds, and three assists. 

Sewanee returns home for the last home games of the season against Millsaps and Birmingham-Southern next weekend, February 2 and 4.
