Despriet and Petty reach ITA Regional Doubles finals for the second year in a row

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Brooke Despriet and Katherine Petty advance to the finals for the second year in a row of the ITA Regional Championships. 

Two rounds of doubles and two rounds of singles were played on Saturday in three different draws. Sewanee had two teams in the quarterfinals of the main draw, Nicole Nowak and Sarah Livingston and Despriet and Petty. Nowak and Livingston played two doubles matches against Emory. They won their first match against Baykan/Berman 8-4 but fell to the number two seed, Kantrovitz/Perez 6-0, 6-2. Despriet and Petty faced a Berry team first as they won 8-5, and then faced an Emory team and got the win 6-1, 6-2 to make it to the finals. 

In singles, Despriet won a thrilling match in the round of 16 against Emory's Martinez 6-4, 7-5 before falling in the quarter-finals. Nowak won her round of 16 against Rhodes before falling to the one seed from Emory, 6-4, 6-2. 

Sewanee's doubles teams of Shackelford and Dieck and Ottley/Bizub both won their doubles draws and Shackelford fell in the finals of her draw. Lexi Barbee also won her draw for the Tigers. 

Despriet and Petty play in the doubles final on Sunday, Oct. 1st at approximately 2 p.m.
