Emma Grace Hendrickson and sophomore
Alex Coley both won individual medalist honors for Sewanee cross country in a season-opening dual meet against Maryville College on Friday evening at Camp Jordan in Chattanooga, Tenn.
Hendrickson paced the Tigers women's squad in the 5K race, finishing in 20:54.54, while freshman
Eleanor Graham finished third in 21:42.23 and sophomore Sam Use placed fourth in 22:07.02. Sophomore
Clara Earley placed fifth with a personal-best time of 22:23.14, and junior
Elise Overlin and senior
Bella Francois completed the race in sixth and seventh, respectively, with times of 22:47.32 and 23:38.94.
Sewanee posted a team score of 19 with six of the seven fastest times on the course.
The Tigers men posted seven of the best nine times for a team score of 21.
Coley was first with a time of 16:58.23, a personal-best by almost three minutes, while sophomore
Brandon Christ (another PR) and sophomore
Sam Leonard placed third and fourth, respectively, with marks of 17:51.70 and 18:02.22. Sophomore
Conley Trudell finished sixth in 19:38.00 and freshman
Reed Siegler was seventh in 19:46.94.
Junior
Max McCloud came across in eighth in 20:09.00 and sophomore
Will Ramsey was ninth in 20:28.78.
Sewanee races again September 16 at the Michael Pretorius Invitational at Vaughn's Gap in Nashville, Tenn.
