Tigers Dominate in Day 1 of ITA Regional Championships

SEWANEE, Tenn– The Tigers opened day one of the ITA Regional Championships Friday as they host over 100 student-athletes and over 10 teams to compete on the Mountain in three different singles and doubles draws. 

Sewanee had 10 players in the main singles draw, and had eight players move on to the second round of the draw. Additionally, seven players for the Tigers are in the round of 16: Mariella Congeni, Nicole Nowak, Brooke Despriet, Katherine Petty, Ivy Wilson, Sarah Livingston, and Carolyn Reid

In the main doubles draw, all four of Sewanee's doubles teams won their first-round matches and three of them moved on to the round of 16, to be played Saturday at 8 a.m. 

Reining National Champions, Desprite and Petty cruised through their first two doubles matches against North Caroline Wesleyan (8-1) and Piedmont (8-0), they take on a Berry team on Saturday at  8 a.m. Sewanee has two other seeded doubles teams in the round of 16, Livingston and Nowak, and freshman team Congeni and Wilson.
