SEWANEE, Tenn. –
Will Hawgood and
Will Pucek each registered scoring chances but were turned away in Sewanee's scoreless draw in men's soccer action Saturday versus Berry in Mount Berry, Ga.
The Tigers (2-1-4, 0-0-1 SAA) opened conference play with the team's fourth draw in seven outings.
Hawgood's opportunity took place in the first 10 minutes of the match while Pucek's 1-v-1 chance came in the 65
th minute.
Alpha Bah's volley sailed over the crossbar in the 80
th minute as well for Sewanee.
"It was a very competitive, high-paced match. Both teams had quality chances but some great goalkeeping from both clubs kept the game scoreless," head coach
Tony Pacella said.
The wind played a big factor in possession for both teams but Sewanee held the run of play for a small majority of the match but not enough to pick up the win. Berry (3-3-3, 0-0-1) posted a 12-8 advantage in shots for the match but the Tigers registered an 8-3 edge in corner kicks.
Sewanee goalkeeper
Nathan Vanhoeve collected four saves while Berry's Lukas Haritos posted two saves.
Sewanee plays at Emory on Sunday at Noon Central Time and returns home Friday against Oglethorpe at Puett Field.
