HOW IT HAPPENED
-The two teams would split the first two points in doubles. EU got out to a 1-0 lead with an 8-4 win at the top flight. However, No. 3 Nicole Nowak/Emma Smith finishes the season with a 12-match winning streak and 18-3 in the spring with a 8-4 win at the No. 3 flight. The duo wraps up the 2022-23 with a 21-4 overall record.

-Tied at one point apiece, Ansley Carpenter and Natalia Nassar was in a battle at the No. 2 position with Izzy Antanavicius and Alexa Goetz. After the Emory duo got out to a 5-1 lead, Carpenter/Nassar took the next four games to lead 6-5.

-Unfortunately, Antanavicius Goetz won the next two points to make it 7-6 going into the deciding game.

-Sewanee, on a 40-all deuce, won the next two serves and forced the tiebreak. However, EU responded loudly with a 7-1 cruise in the break to take the 2-1 lead after doubles play.

-After the Eagles won the top-two flights in singles to lead 4-1, the Tigers saw their season come to an end at the No. 4. Ilayada Baykan defeated Katherine Petty, 6-3, 2-6, 6-1 to clinch the win and send Emory to Orlando for the quarterfinals.
