HOW IT HAPPENED
-The bats were quiet in both dugouts for the first three innings. However, in the fourth, a two-out RBI single by Mackenzie Fleming got the Majors on the board first.
-In the bottom of the fifth, a two-out base hit by
Zoe Crockett evened the game at one run apiece.
-In the seventh, the wheels came off for the Tigers, as two errors helped the Majors retake the lead, 2-1. Later in the frame, an RBI single added insurance for Millsaps.
-Trailing 3-1 in the bottom half of the seventh, Sewanee saw back-to-back base hits by
Sam Dean and
Eve Bournias and a sac bunt by Crockett put runners at second and third. However, the threat ended there with back-to-back fly outs.
-Despite the run in the SAA Tournament, the University of the South softball program finished the season with 12 wins, including winning three conference series.
-The 12 wins matches the fifth most in program history, and the seven conference wins is the most since Sewanee became charter members of the SAA in 2013, and it tied the third-most in program history.
