SEWANEE, Tenn. - The University of the South men's lacrosse team dropped the regular season finale to Centre College, 17-15 in Southern Athletic Association (SAA) play, ending Sewanee's seven-game winning streak, Saturday from historic Hardee-McGee Field at Harris Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-After Sewanee netted the first goal of the game, the Colonels' Ryan Black scored three straight times to give the visitors the lead for good.
-Centre went on another scoring spree late in the opening period, netting three goals in two minutes to lead 6-1 after a period.
-The Colonels took a 12-4 lead at the break.
-Sewanee did attempt a comeback, cutting the eight-goal deficit to five, 13-8, after three quarters.
-Early in the fourth quarter, Sewanee scored three straight goals to make it 14-11 deficit thanks to
Davis Gillenwater's 20th goal of the year with 11:16 left in the game.
-
Phelps Thomas' 23rd goal of the year made it a 16-13 affair with 3:47 left in the game, but the Colonels had a man-up goal with 1:35 left to seal the victory.
TIGERS EARN SHARE OF SAA REGULAR SEASON TITLE
-With the setback, the Tigers still pick up a share of the 2023 SAA Men's Lacrosse Regular Season Championship with Centre College with identical 5-1 records.
-Guaranteed to finish as the No. 2 seed in the tournament, the Tigers will have a bye into the semifinals on April 28.
-With games on the SAA schedule on Sunday, the seedings of the 2023 SAA Men's Lacrosse Tournament will be announced by Monday.

Sewanee earned a bye to the semifinals of the 2023 SAA Men's Lacrosse Tournament on Friday, April 28. The Tigers will wait on their opponent after seedings are announced early next week and play-in games are played on Saturday, April 22.
