SEWANEE, Tenn. - The University of the South baseball team picked up a doubleheader split on Saturday from Montgomery Field. Berry College took the opener in a slugfest, 18-12, but the Tigers rallied to a 5-4 victory in the second game.

HOW IT HAPPENED, GAME 1
-In the opener, Berry got two runs in back-to-back plate appearances. After a bases loaded hit-by-pitch, a fielder's choice to second base made it 2-0 in favor of the visitors.
-Sewanee came out swinging in the bottom of the first. The Tigers got on the board on an RBI single to by
Jadon Fetrow. Later, with the bases loaded,
J.T. Carter was plunked with a pitch to score the second rund.
-Following a wild pitch to score

Mike Lewishall cleared the bases with a two-run triple to make it 5-2.
-In the second,
Blake Pou's fourth home run of the season made it 6-2 in favor of the Purple Tigers.
-In the fifth, after seven straight batters reached to flip the score to 8-6, the Tigers were forced to make a pitching change. Adding another run after the change, the Vikings led 9-6 after four and a half innings.
-In the bottom of the fifth, after a
Will Yarbro RBI triple, Lewishall's third home run of the season made it an even game again at nine runs apiece.
-For the Vikings, the tie did not last long, as they had a htree-run frame to make it a 12-9 advantage thanks to a long ball.
-Speaking of long ball, Pou's fifth homer of hte year cut the deficit down to two. On the first pitch of the bottom of the sixth, he sent the ball out to right field.
-Berry added six insurance runs in the eighth to secure the win, despite Sewanee's two runs in the bottom of the ninth on RBI plays by
Alden Wright and Yarbro.
HOW IT HAPPENED, GAME 2
-In the second game of the twin bill, Berry got out to a 2-0 lead in the opening inning, but Sewanee chipped away from the deficit in the bottom of the second with a run.
-In the third, Sewanee saw four runs come across as they claimed the lead.
Alden Wright evened hte game at two runs apiece on a sacrifice fly. Next,
Hunter Herndon made it a 3-2 lead on an RBI double. Following a pitching change,
Jadon Fetrow laced a hit up the middle to score two.
-Berry added two runs in the fourth on a two-run single, but that would be as close as they would get, as
Matt Munn retired nine of the final 11 batters.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS

Mike Lewishall was a single shy of the cycle in game onewith a perfect 3-of-3 day at the dish with four RBI and a run scored.

Will Yarbro went 4-of-5 and two RBI, while
Blake Pou had two homers and finished the day with three hits.
-In the night cap, Yarbro went 2-of-3, and
Hunter Herndon had a double and an RBI.
-
Matt Munn (4-3) tossed five innings of relief with two earned runs allowed and struck out three batters.
BERRY KEY STATISTICS
-In game one, Wesley Wade had three hits and four RBI, while John Poist, NIck Brunswick, Zachary Hardee and Garrett Lang each had three hits.
-In game two, Wesley Maxey and Nick Brunswick each had two knocks for Berry.
