DANVILLE, Ky. - The University of the South women's basketball team ended the 2023 season with a 59-47 defeat to the regular season champions in Centre College in the quarterfinals of the 2023 Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Tournament, Sunday from Alumni Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-After each team traded field goals to start the game,
Faith Humphrey gave the Tigers the 6-3 lead with six minutes left in the opening period. The sophomore added two free throws on fastbreak to give the Purple and White the 8-3 lead.
-Centre responded with 10-2 run of its own, and it was the home team up two, 14-12, after 10 minutes.
-The Tigers offense got out to strong start in the second quarter. After a jumper by
Kayla Antoine, she knocked down her fifth 3-pointer of the year to make it a 17-14 lead.
-For the Colonels, it would be the last time they allowed the Tigers to keep the lead. In the final 5:31 of the period, Centre finished on a 10-3 run to make it a 24-20 lead.
-Centre, winners of the regular season in the SAA, began to pull away in the second half, making it a 14-point margin, 38-24 midway through the third stanza.

Camryn Broussard, in her last collegiate game, led the Tigers with a season-high 15 points on 6-of-11 shooting. The senior also grabbed eight boards.

Shay Conn added 13 points and shot 5-of-10 from the field.

Kayla Antoine contributed 11 points, nine rebounds and four assists, while
Faith Humphrey grabbed 11 boards.
CENTRE KEY STATISTICS
-Bailey Rucker led the Colonels with 17 points on 8-of-16 shooting.
