Field Hockey drops quarterfinal match against Concordia Wisconsin

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Sewanee closes out its 2023 Field Hockey season as they fall in the quarterfinals of the Southern Athletic Association championships to Concordia Wisconsin. Sewanee fell to Concordia 0-2 on Friday afternoon in Memphis, Tenn. 

The Tigers played a tough first quarter as they held Concordia scoreless despite seven shots and five penalty corners taken by the Falcons. In the second period, both teams played a midfield battle as neither posted a shot or a corner for 15 minutes. Claire Damare played the first half in goal for Sewanee where she recorded five saves. 

In the third, Eve Bournias recorded Sewanee's lone shot for the match, but Concordia found the back of the net with 42 minutes on the clock off a penalty corner. The Falcons scored an insurance goal at the last second with 60 minutes on the clock. Taylor Klesel played the second half in goal for Sewanee as she tallied six saves.
