SEWANEE, Tenn. – Adele Cassidy collected 30 digs and Savannah Gann delivered 13 kills as the Tigers fell in four sets (10-25, 20-25, 27-25, 16-25) to the number 12 ranked team Berry in the Southern Athletic Association finals on Sunday afternoon in Rome, Ga. at the Cage Athletic Centre.

The Tigers had 14 blocks, 45 kills, and 72 digs in the finals. Gann led the Tigers on offense with 13 kills, six digs, and an assist. Laurel Burkhardt registered 10 kills for the day with three digs and two blocks. Ashley Crosby and Olivia Jones both collected four blocks a piece as Crosby posted six kills and Jones tallied four. Nicole Radford also tallied three blocks and Jacqueline Weller also picked up one. Weller also recorded 9 kills and five digs. Cassidy again led Sewanee's defense posting 30 digs, two away from her season best. Cassidy also collected five assists. Emma Meyer had 17 assists for the night and Jessie Atkinson followed with 14.

The Tigers got off to a slow start in the first set as they fell 10-25. In the second set, they came back stronger and stayed tight with the Vikings as they had four ties of score and traded off leads. At eight all, the Vikings went on a seven-to-one lead but the Tigers were able to chip away at their lead to stay in the set. The Vikings found themselves with a set point and the Tigers were able to fight off two set points but conceded the second set, 20-15.

In the third set, Sewanee and Berry were neck-to-neck as the Tigers battled to stay in the match down two sets to none. There were 12 ties of score and seven lead changes and the Tigers stayed even with the No. 12 team in the country. The Tigers found themselves with two set points at 24-22, but the Vikings fought back to tie the score at 24 all and produced a championship point for themselves at 24-25. However, a kill by Gann kept the Tigers alive and tied the set back up. The Tigers took the next two points of a kill by Crosby and won the set of an error by the Vikings setter. Sewanee had 18 kills and hit .269 as a team to Berry's 17 kills and .175 hitting percentage.

In the fourth set, the Vikings built themselves an early lead up 13-6. The Tigers fought back and stayed in the set but were unable to make up their early deficit finding themselves down 11-20. The Tigers were unable to stop the Vikings as they hit .371 for the set and had 14 kills with only one error.

The Tigers wrapped up their season with an excellent tournament run, making it to the finals of the conference tournament for the first time in recent program history. They finish with a 19-12 overall record and 7-7 in conference play.
