SEWANEE, Tenn. – Sophomore, Emma Meyer hit 1,000 assists as the Tigers fell to Centre in volleyball action on Tuesday night.

Meyer is the first Sophomore in recent program history to reach 1,000 assists in the first two seasons of competition. Meyer finished her Freshman year with 579 assists and currently has 422 for the 2023 season. Meyer also posted the most assists as a Freshman since 2010.

Laurel Burkhardt led the Tigers with eight kills for the night, while Maria Kennedy, Jacqueline Weller, and Nicole Radford all posted two kills. Radford and Weller also recorded two blocks each.

Jessie Atkinson led the Tigers in assists with eight, while Meyer and Adele Cassidy both had three. Sophia Caruso recorded 10 digs, Atkinson had six, and Burkhardt and Cassidy both had five.

The Tigers were outhit by their opponents as the Colonels recorded 41 kills to the Tigers 16. Sewanee was unable to pull themselves out of a rut as they lost in three sets, 25-13, 25-19, 25-17.

The Tigers return to the Mountain this weekend to host Birmingham-Southern on Friday night at 7 and Millsaps on Sunday at Noon.
