BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The University of the South men's basketball team posted a 66-61 victory at Birmingham-Southern College, Friday night inside Bill Battle Coliseum.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Despite the slow start in the first couple of minutes, Sewanee went on a 9-2 run at the under-16 media timeout.
-The Tigers made it a 13-6 lead on an
Eli Holland fastbreak layup thanks to a block and rebound by
Russ Marr.
-BSC did claw back into the contest, cutting the deficit to one, 23-22, with less than five minutes left in the half.
-Sewanee prevailed until the intermission, finishing the half on a 9-4 run and leading 32-27 at the break.
-Despite a
Colin Kahl layup to start the second half, the Panthers went on an 11-0 run to reclaim the lead, 36-34, at the under-16 media timeout.
-Sewanee reclaimed the lead at the 14:44 mark on a triple by
Russ Marr, and from there, the Tigers pushed the lead to 10 points, 52-42, with 8:25 left in the contest.
-BSC took advantage of Sewanee's turnovers and used an 11-5 run to make it a 63-61 lead with 1:31 to go. However,
Luka Avaliani's key free throws and two late BSC turnovers seal the contest for the Tigers.

Luka Avaliani dropped 14 points thanks to 5-of-5 from the charity stripe and added nine rebounds and four assists.

Russ Marr led the Tigers with 15 points. Off the bench,
Eli Holland grabbed nine rebounds.

Tre Corrigan knocked down his 100th career 3-pointer, finishing with 10 points on the night and adding four rebounds and dimes each.

-Josh Childers led all scorers with 21 points on 9-of-13 shooting.
