Men's Soccer Extends Win Streak to Six, Defeats Oglethorpe 1-0

Atlanta, GA: On Friday, September 30th, the University of the South Men's Soccer team traveled down to Atlanta to continue SAA play with a match up with preseason favorite Oglethorpe. S second half goal by Connor Dail proved to be the difference, as Sewanee came away with a 1-0 win, their first over Oglethorpe since 2014.

INSIDE THE MATCH UP:
Sewanee (8-1, 2-0 SAA) 1, Oglethorpe (4-4-1, 1-1 SAA)

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Sewanee came out energized, shooting the ball five times in the first half.
- Will Hawgood put a shot on frame, but was turned away by the Stormy Petrel goalkeeper.
- Sewanee would be awarded two corner kick opportunities in the first half, but were unable to connect, as the half ended 0-0.
- 90 seconds into the second half, Hawgood would once again fire one on frame, but was stopped again by the goalkeeper.
- At the 60 minute mark, Connor Dail found the back of the net, capitalizing on a failed clearance attempt by Oglethorpe.
- JP Furman continued his strong season, registering three saves in his eighth shutout of the year. 
- Senior Captain Zach Sunnarah and Freshman Tyler Scott played all 90 minutes on the defensive end to shut down the Oglethorpe offense.

- Dail scored the lone goal, his fist of the year.
- Furman added three saves.

- Out shot Sewanee 13-8.
- Ethan Harrison finished with four saves.
